Rules And Regulations

WITHDRAWAL / REFUNDS FROM SCHOOL / HOSTEL

  • Parents must submit a written request and provide one month notice for any of the above withdrawals.
  • In the case of mid-term withdrawal from school/hostel, the parents are liable to pay the full fee for the remaining terms also.
  • T.Cs will be issued only after settlement of all dues.
  • T.Cs can be released only after three weeks of the receipt of the T.C application (from the school diary). Please note that T.Cs have to be countersigned by the Asst. Secretary, Regional Office, CBSE, Chennai.
  • Once a child is admitted, the fees will not be refunded.

TRANSPORT FACILITY

  • Bus Fees should be paid at the beginning of the academic year on annual basis in one installment. Bus fees once paid will not be refunded.
  • Students should obtain bus entry pass after paying the bus fees.
  • Without bus entry pass, students will not be permitted to avail bus facility.
  • Students who change the boarding point in between the academic year, should remit the difference amount if necessary.
  • Student travelling by the school transport are under the supervision of the bus driver and the attendant. The driver and the attendant have the authority to enforce the laid down regulations for conduct. Disorderly conduct or refusal to follow the directions will be sufficient reasons for the withdrawal of the use of school transport by school authorities.
  • Children should be escorted to and from the school / school bus by authorized persons only.
  • Students coming to school by own transport must reach in time for the assembly.
  • Students are not allowed to come to school driving vehicles other than bicycles.
  • Students who require a change in the bus route for a day or more must inform the class teacher and get the bus pass issued.

ATTENDANCE

  • We stress the importance of regular attendance at school. Ensure that your child is regular and punctual.
  • In the event of the student being late to school or absent from school, the absence record in the diary must be filled in and sent upon his/her return to school. We urge parents to have all absences documented in the school diary. If a student needs to be away from school for an extended period (more than 2 - 3 days) it requires a request letter from the parent / guardian prior to the absence. The student’s name will be struck off the rolls if he or she remains absent for more than 14 consecutive days.
  • The school does not encourage children to be taken early or brought late to the school. In case it is unavoidable the parent must make a note to the class teacher. While taking a child early from school a gate pass is to be collected from the class teacher duly signed by the Principal.

STUDENT DRESS CODE

  • Ensure that your child comes to school neatly dressed and maintains the dress code prescribed for them.
  • All students should wear the prescribed uniform.
  • Shoes must be clean and neatly polished.
  • Students are not permitted to :
    • a) Colour their hair b) grow / varnish their nails c) shave their head except on religious or medical grounds. In the event of the same, the parent / guardian must send a note to the class teacher.
  • Boys must have their hair cut properly from time to time and they may wear only black/white turbans (for sikh students). Senior boys are not permitted to grow beards or come unshaven except on religious / medical grounds.
  • Girls must tie their hair neatly using white ribbons / hair bands only. Girls must wear slips or tights as part of their daily school uniform.
  • Gold ornaments are not permitted except a small ear stud for girls. Accessories like chains, fancy ear rings should not be worn to school.
  • If any student comes in improper uniform, it will be dealt with a warning later disciplinary action. Fines may be enforced in the case of regular defaulters.
  • On days when students are permitted to wear casual clothes do ensure that they are suitably attired for school. Dress and deportment speak volumes for the student and the institution.
  • If the uniform does not adhere to the norms prescribed, then students will be asked to stitch another set of uniform.

HEALTH & HYGIENE

  • Students must have a wholesome breakfast and / or carry sufficient snacks (sandwiches, chapathis, fruit etc.) that would serve as a substantial meal till the lunch time. An empty stomach is harmful to their physical as well as intellectual growth. The same would apply when students stay back after school for classes or activities
  • The school canteen provides the brunch and lunch facility for the student. Lunch coupons need to be bought on a daily basis from the canteen.
  • Do ensure that your child carries an umbrella / rain coat to school during the monsoon.
  • Parents are requested to inform the school if child is unwell. In the event of contagious diseases, parents are advised to keep the child at home.
  • First aid is given at the school to deal with bumps and bruises, aches and pain coughs and sniffles. The student may avail of the infirmary in such cases.
  • However, we would contact the parent/guardian if the child needs more medical attention and needs to go home early.
  • If the student needs to carry medication to school, please see that a note with regard to the same is entered in the diary without fail.

COMMUNICATION

  • Students can expect a change of division every year in all classes from I to XII. List of students in each class will be posted in our website before the re-opening day.
  • From time to time you will get information about the activities at the school through News Letters and Circulars.
  • Since the diary and planner is prepared at the beginning of the year, minor changes in dates and timings may sometimes have to be effected. This will be communicated through the diary.
  • Please do inform the class teacher the date and the receipt no. of the fee receipt, the day after the fees has been paid. This will help the class teacher to maintain proper fee records and also helps to avoid wrong reminders.
  • In the event of a hartal / unexpected holiday the same will be notified through public media / SMS.
  • When there is an important message that may need to be communicated to all the children we have Telephone Chain Communication for each class. Please make sure that your child has the phone numbers of the class teacher as well as a few classmates.
  • Information will start with the teacher and will be passed from student to student as per the class telephone list.

STUDENT ASSESSMENT

  • Assessment and evaluation is an integral part of learning and schooling. The form of assessment differs as per the need and the requirement of the age group. Report on conduct, application and progress will be entered in the report card at the end of each term.
  • We have a continuous assessment system. Every student will be assessed as per a CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) which would comprise of class tests (written as well as oral), assignments, presentations, activities, projects, worksheets. It is also based on regularity and competence in presentation of class work and home work. This would require them to work in regular and systematic manner.
  • The evaluation will be further based on two mid-term tests and two term exams and annual exam in a given academic year. Classes X & XII will have pre-board model examination additionally.
  • Eligibility for promotion is based on the cumulative performance in all the tests/exams and continuous assessments conducted during the academic year. All students should ensure that they do not miss any of the examinations/tests.

PARENT CONSULTATION DAY

  • The last Friday of every month is the day set aside for parent meetings with teachers. On this day teachers and school administration personnel and management are available in the campus from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm. Parents who wish to meet the class teachers/subject teachers may use this opportunity to do so. If you would require your child / ward to stay back in school on this day the same must be mentioned in the school diary, else we will be sending the child home as per normal routine.
  • Do not meet the teachers during class hours without the permission of Principal.

OPEN HOUSE

  • Open house is conducted after every term exam when report cards are given out. It is important that both parents attend open house and get a feed back on the child’s performance at school in scholastic and non-scholastic areas.

HOSTEL RULES

  • Withdrawal of students from the boarding is allowed only if withdrawal from the school is also requested.
  • Boarders cannot be withdrawn from the boarding during the academic year. If a student is withdrawn due to unavoidable circumstances in the course of the academic year his / her deposits will be refunded only when the boarder leaves the school. Establishment fee for the whole term will be collected in such cases.
  • Boarders are not allowed to keep money or valuable articles with them. Money and valuables if any should be deposited with the Hostel Warden immediately on arrival.
  • On working days parents and authorised local guardians are permitted to see the boarder only between 4.30 pm. and 6.30 pm.
  • Boarders are allowed to go home only once during a term. They should return at the time mentioned in the out pass issued. Frequent visit by the parents/guardians are discouraged.
  • A periodical medical check up is made and cases requiring special attention will be informed to the parents.
  • Charges for treatment and charges for special medicines and diet will have to be paid for by the parents. Hostel fees have to be paid before 10th of every month in advance.

GENERAL RULES

  • Students should come to the school on time. Late comers will be sent back.Text books and note books will be provided by the school. Parents will however be asked to provide materials needed for projects given to them are submitted in time.
  • Students are responsible for the safe custody of their books and belongings.
  • It is mandatory to speak English while in the school campus and school bus.
  • Use of bad language / gestures, swearing and such inappropriate communication is strictly prohibited.
  • School property must be respected and cared for. Any damage must be reported to the Class teacher immediately. Students responsible for the damage are liable to pay the compensation.
  • Money, items such as cell phones, cassettes, CDs, toys, cards, video games, cameras, chewing gums, fire crackers etc. should not be brought to school unless specifically asked for by the teachers.
  • Students premises should be kept neat and tidy. Dust bins are provided for used paper and waste materials.
  • For birthdays, students can wear casual clothes.
  • Give all complaints in writing.
  • Go through the diary daily, see that it is brought to school every day. It is an excellent channel of communication. The school expects your wholehearted participation in all the school functions and workshops conducted by the school.

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

Breaking any of the school rules / dress code will entail disciplinary action in the following stages.

1st stage Verbal warning
2nd stage Intimation to parents by the teacher
3rd stage Meeting of the teacher by the parent
4th stage Meeting of parent or guardian with the Principal

Further offences will be dealt with severely through suspension or dismissal.

The Principal reserves the right to compel the parents to withdraw their wards for the following reasons.

  • Bad conduct
  • Unsatisfactory academic progress
  • Irregular attendance
  • In subordination to school authorities.
