The National Reading Day is celebrated on 19th June, every year, as a tribute to the literary legend Shri. P.N. Panicker, also known as the ‘Father of the Library Movement’ in India. Students of Saraswathi Vidyalaya celebrate this special occasion with utmost passion and sincerity. They participate in numerous competitions and activities, showcasing their love for books and for reading. This year the National Reading Day, was celebrated over a span of 3 days, each day being packed with activities conducted by different Departments for languages.

On Day 1, the Department of English presented a special assembly that centred around the theme and constituted of an insightful speech and a flashmob that witnessed the incredible participation of students from Classes 1 to 8. The divine lamp, connoting knowledge and wisdom, was lit by the Heads of Departments for languages.

Day 2 of Reading Day, comprised of class activities, wherein, students participated in book reviews, reading sessions, setting up of class libraries, ‘Share-n-Read’ activity, etc.. The Department of Malayalam conducted role plays to add more fun and excitement.

Day 3 of the Reading Day was observed with equal zest through numerous meaningful and fun activities, conducted to intensify the love for books. A special assembly was conducted by the Department of French highlighting the importance of reading.
